What makes a perfume niche?

Niche perfume comes from houses whose main creative focus is fragrance, rather than fashion or another product category. Within that world, the range is broad: polished luxury, intimate everyday scents and experimental compositions all have a place. Independent perfume is a more specific idea, describing the ownership or working model of a house.
