Histoires de Parfums was founded in 2000 by Gérald Ghislain, at a time when niche perfumery was still in its early stages. Ghislain came to perfumery through gastronomy: born in Morocco and raised in southern France, he opened his first restaurant at 22 and ran two establishments in Paris before training at ISIPCA in Versailles. That background shapes the house — a sensory intelligence trained on taste and texture as much as scent, and a storyteller's instinct for character and mood. The collection functions as an olfactory library, with fragrances built around figures like Casanova and George Sand, years like 1725 and 1969, and raw materials treated as subjects in their own right. As Ghislain puts it, his perfumes have never been about the most beautiful scent — always about the most beautiful emotion.
