Frapin has been in the Charente since 1270, growing vines in the Grande Champagne region before becoming distillers across what is now one of the oldest family-owned cognac estates in France. The fragrance line launched around 2008, born from a moment when Béatrice Cointreau, who runs the house and is descended from the founding families of both Cointreau and Rémy Martin, splashed cognac on her wrist at a tasting and was stopped by the aroma. That became the brief for 1270, named after the year the family arrived in the region. Everything since has followed the same logic: the smells of the estate, the cellars, the oak barrels, the vines, distilled into perfume with the patience of a house that has been doing this for eight centuries.
