Collection: Celine Barel

Céline Barel is a Senior Perfumer at IFF, now based in Grasse.

Raised in Grasse, she grew up in a city that literally smelled different by the season: vetiver one month, ylang ylang the next; though it was the bottles and advertising of perfume, not the raw materials, that first captured her.

She came to perfumery via a marketing background and internships at Chanel, Dior, and Vuitton, before joining IFF's perfumery school in Milan and training under Pierre Wargny.

Her visual approach sets her apart, she sees fragrances in terms of colours, textures, and shapes before a formula exists, and describes herself as a novelist of scent.

Her credits include Aesop Tacit and Aurner, Loewe, Jo Malone London, Coach, Zoologist, and Maison d'Etto.
