Dawn Spencer Hurwitz

Dawn Spencer Hurwitz is an American independent perfumer, olfactory artist, and founder of DSH Perfumes, based in Boulder, Colorado.

A painter by training, she came to perfumery in 1991 while working at ESSENSE Perfumery on Newbury Street, Boston.

A synesthete, her approach to fragrance is built on fine art principles: texture, colour, line, and light translated into olfactory form.

She has collaborated with the Denver Art Museum and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art on multi-sensory installations, and teaches perfume history and fragrance design.

She won the Art and Olfaction Award in the Independent category in 2019 for Colorado.

Her Japanese market line, DAWN Perfumes, was developed with design partners Undulate Labs and stocked at Barneys New York Tokyo and Isetan.
