Tristan Badard is a perfumer at Quintessence Fragrances, based in the UK.
He studied chemistry before specialising in perfumery and flavours at the University of Montpellier, with placements in Grasse and Beijing that exposed him to both classical French perfumery and contemporary Asian market sensibilities.
He trained as a perfumer at Galimard in Grasse and Welfine in Beijing, worked briefly in flavours at Omega Ingredients, then joined Quintessence Fragrances in 2014, where he works across both analytical and creative perfumery.
His analytical background is central to his creative process: he approaches formula construction the way a painter works with colour, building in layers and textures.
His favourite materials include tuberose, labdanum, leather, and honey.
